Bhaskarvarman was king of Kamarupa and the last of the Varman dynasty. Both the institutions, Kamarupa Anusandhan Samiti and the Assam State Museum were founded by Rai Bahadur Kanak Lal Barua. The main purpose of this was the preservation and promotion of Assam"s history and cultural heritage through collection, research and publication.
